Unnecessary Advisory

Sometimes I see warnings or suggestions on products or signs and I just have to wonder.
Do we need "local requirements" to tell us how to properly dispose of cardboard boxes?

Apparently we do...

And that makes me sad.  But you should appreciate the video.  My friend Kristen is working on another PSA for the city (about noise) and it's going to be awesome!

So, I guess the morale of the story is this: ...recycle, reduce, reuse...and close the loop.
Sweet Fancy Moses, the 80's were a trip!

Bagpipes are surprisingly hard to acquire.  On the other hand, I may have found an autoharp for $85.00...

Dear Diary...

Dear Diary,

Today I heard Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze on Irish tin whistle and mandolin.  Now I can die happy.

At Founder's Park they have a lunch summer concert series on Wednesdays.  Today the series kicked off with a group called Keltic Knot.  You can check them out here.  I think I know one of the guys.

It was a lot of fun!  Mom made chicken salad (which is my favorite kind of meat salad) and the weather was warm and breezy.  Yay!!  Next week is a rock group and I'm putting in my order now for egg salad (my favorite kind of ovum salad).

Found Treasures: Teenage Notes

I was at home this weekend for Mother's Day and Mom wanted me to go through some old boxes of my stuff.  What did I find?  Only the best payload ever: notes from junior high and high school!  Talk about vapid crap quality reading material.  Oh, it was epic, and you all are in for a treat because I've decided to post them here, in random order, over the course of several months.  Stay tuned, it's about to get...ridiculous-er.

Full disclosure:
All names (except mine -- you should know by now that I have no shame) have been changed to protect the innocent, young, and stupid.  All other material is an exact transcription.  Editorial comments will be italicized in green

And now, I present you with these Giggling Gems...

Hey, sup w/ u. N.M.H. Did you have fun 2-day? I didn't really.  Did you have fun sitting were you do in Science?  I know you probably did.  Mr. Stine looks like he's constipated.  What am I saying, he probably is!! (That's either sarcasm or we were really excited about our science teacher's lack of bowel movements.)  I don't know whether Kim and Kurtis r still going out.  I don't think I really even care.  Not to be mean about it or anything, but I really don't.  I like someone.  I'll tell you l8ter.  You prob already know.  Well G.G. C-ya l8ter.  (I think the technical abbreviation is l8r.  I think "l8ter" is pronounced "late-ter".)

Your friend,
Samantha

P.S. Thanx for all of the notes you wrote in your free time.  They were lovely.  (I can't imagine what I wrote, but I know it was probably completely goofy and nonsensical -- "lovely" is definitely a kind way of putting  it.)

Beerfest and the 2nd Annual CDNE!

The big Brown Derby in town had a beer tasting fest this weekend.  The dates just happened to coincide with Cinco de No Hablo Espanol so I went with Dugan and it was so much fun!  It was like a farmer's market of beer!
Now, I'm only meh when it comes to beer -- sometimes I like one, but generally I can live without -- but there were TONS of kinds of hard ciders and fruit flavored beers.  YUMMMO!!  There was cherry, apple, pear, apricot, raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, lemon, grapefruit, and apple ginger, just to name a few.

Then, we stalked these guys:

Until this happened:
Cinco de no hablo espanol?  Si, si, si!
So...it was pretty much the best Cinco de no Hablo Espanol ever.
