This year marks the beginning of the sesquicentennial (150th) anniversary of the Civil War. Every year at Wilson's Creek they have a reenactment, but this year it was supposed to be on a more grand scale than normal. Never having been to a Civil War reenactment before (and also since sesquicentennial is one of my favorite words) Mom, Dad, and I went. It was pretty much like you'd expect it to be -- people in costume pretending to shoot one another, fake limping, large crowds of onlookers, etc., but it was also a lot of fun.
They had tents set up with people selling "authentic" wares. Most of it was like the mass produced stuff you'd see at Silver Dollar City, but there were several tents with clothing that was hand made. Those were my favorite. They also had a section of the midway (for lack of a better term) where you could get food, but nothing overly authentic. We had Pineapple Whip. Just like the antebellum ladies of the deep south...

Keep in mind that I was at the back of the crowd and my camera skills are not the skills of an artist. Even so, the cannons were killer. Every time they went off the crowd gave a collective jump.

To my family, we need to get better about taking group shots of us at events. We seriously suck at it.
